1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
It should be recanted or said that a decision is choice whereby a person forms a conclusion about a situation. Ostella 1 want Zalkind, S.S (1963:13), confirmed that term decision making to choice process, choosing one form among several possibilities. However, decision theory in Costello, T.W (1963), largely considers decision the process of making a single choice among course of action at a particular point in this depicts a course of behaviour about what must be done or vise versa.
Also at a point at which policies, plans and objective are translated into concrete actions is also where decision is done.
Decision making is however one of the most garment activities of management. It has been the preoccupation of all the management. It has been the preoccupation of all the management of multi famous organization ranging from small scale organization to multinational corporations. Management may at times consider decision to be the heart of their job in that, they must always choose what is to be done who will do it, when and where and most the times how it will be done.
Traditional, managers influence the ordinary employee and specifically their immediate subordinate in the organization. This has resulted in managers making unnatural decision.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS
In Nigeria for example experts that refused the above assertion sec the arrangement as a symptom of all organization, so there has been lost of controversy as to whether an employee should participate in managerial decision making or not some writers argued that employee should contribute in making decision especially when it affects citation will serve as training and testing ground for future members of upper management. They maintained that qualified, honest, reasonable at these lower organization levels. But the big question is qualified individuals really available all these under lay the need for an investigation study.
The problems are:
1. Employee Commitment: most scholars argued that employee commitment to the goal of an organization is paramount for successful business. Guest (2001) explains that employee commitment refers to conference between the goals of the individual employee and the organization where by the individual identifies with and extends effort on behalf of the goals of the organization.

Better Use Of Time And Resource: most companies are faced with the challenge of managing their resources and time to get maximum output according to Wagner (1994) resources encompass employees, physical material and financial capability of the organization many managers are provided with minimum resources to reach maximum result for the organization, managing the minimum resources requires innovation and efficient communication between the employee and the management. this can only

1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
1. To assess the impact of employee participation in management decision making.
2. To ascertain the relationship between employee participation in management decision and productivity of the organization
3. To determine the extent can employee participate in decision making
1.4 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In a view of accomplishing this research work effectively the researcher posses the following:
1. Does employee participation in decision making have any impact in the organization?
2. Is there any relationship between employee participation in decision making and the level of productivity in the organization?
3. To what extent can employee participate in decision making?
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Generally this research work will be relevant to the managers and employee of Emenite Plc. It will also be beneficial to other public sector organization in Nigeria it will also be productive importance to government, academically potential and future researchers on the issue of employee participation in managerial decision making. this empirical study is also germane to the researcher since it is partial requirement for the award of National Diploma in Business Administration and Management.
1.6 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
Generally this research work focuses particularly on the impact of employee participation in decision making and organizational productivity using Emenite Plc, Enugu as a case study.
1.7 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
As a result of financial problem, time constraint, apathy on the part of respondents and bureaucratic procedures involved affected the study and makes the work of this nature not easy to consummate or accomplish. In a research work as this a lot of problems are encountered some of them are:
1. Time: was a serious factor functions, this research work due to short duration of time, the submission and much pressure.
2. Finance: a lot of money is needed for collection and assembling of information required for this study.
3. The researcher equally has other problem and lectures to attend and it was not easy.
4. Static data: this is a serious limitation of the inventory turnover ratio that analysis how often inventory level is calculated yearly and balance sheet as most firms do not release average weekly or monthly inventory levels.
1.8 DEFINITION OF TERMS
1. Decision-making: The selection from among alternative of a course of action.
2. Productivity: A measure of how well resources are brought together in organizations and utilized for a set of results.
3. Management: Is made up of top and middle level management. Top management includes, shareholders, board of directors, director or the chief executive, general manager (i.e. management above departmental level) middle management includes; head of department, managers, deputy and assistant managers.
